The weather is still oscillating between winter and early spring. Albeit in mid-February, we are a long time before snow has disappeared for good. On some days the mountains are white like in deep winter and just a week later the snowmay only cap the summits.
Perhaps some readers passing by my blog might ask: Where for heaven’s sake is this Nature Reserve. Anyone would be welcome to visit and see this gem for him- or herself. Hence, here are some instructions on how to find the grounds of my photographic journey.

Lucerne is an attractive little town of central Switzerland located on the shores of the “Vierwaldstättersee”. It is a hub for traveling with public transportation to major cities in Switzerland and Europe.
The Nature Reserve may be reached easily by bus or car, driving to the equally old town of Sempach and up the hills to Neudorf and the Nature Reserve (see the arrow).

Driving up the road from the village, the Nature Reserve catches the eye across a meadow where cattle are grazing during the warm seasons.

Any Nature Reserve has important functions. Some have to do with nature preservation while others with providing an environment where people appreciate the diversity of plants and animals, and find a place to feel alive and part of the larger community of living things – a place to meditate and to practice mindfulness.
To appreciate the fullness of what nature gives us, we need to feel its flow in time, during the seasons, the months and weeks where smaller and larger changes may only be seen when you stop your steps and look around attentively.
