A few days ago I hiked in the Prealps, not far away from where I live in Switzerland.
The Prealps is a region with steep hills that rise to 7’000 feet. They are covered with woods. In areas that are less steep, there are alpine meadows. Some were transformed from high bogs, others resulted from deforestation by local farmers who live there for many generations.
The valleys are carved by rain and brooks and little rivers. They carry water all year long. Many flow through areas that cannot be reached easily by foot due to the steepness of the hillside.
My hike took place on a sunny morning, before the sun was at its zenith.

Fischbach (fish’ brook)

What a beautiful opportunity to hike after a short train and bus ride from my hometown Luzern: To get lost in your thoughts while breathing fresh air and pursuing unspoiled waters.
