After a long absence from Switzerland due to traveling in North- and South America and therefore skipping nature’s transition from winter to early and late spring, I paid the Nature Reserve a visit in June to find it vigorous and in full growth.
The flora is vibrant and the ponds nest the new cycle of life of its inhabitants. Returning from hikes in the deserts of Southern California, I am struck by the density of greens in the meadows, forests and wetlands surrounding the ponds.

On the left, a picture of the mixed forest of firs, pine trees and deciduous trees that increasingly replace the exclusive pine and fir of the local woods. On the right an elderberry in full bloom.

We are blessed with warm and sunny weather on these early summer days. They are a dream for outdoor activities and leisure time spent to contemplate nature.
I am just starting to visit my favorite photographic locations in close proximity of my home town in Central Switzerland in order to sample the colors of the vegetation. Did the cold and rainy weather of the past six months alter the growth rate of plants? We skipped the experience of the alpine awaking to spring in the warm and sunny summer in South America and the dry heat of the desert in Southern California.
