Time Passed – Signs of Fall

Summer is not over at the beginning of September, but nature shows signs of fatigue. Yellow leaves appear on the deciduous trees in front of my office. Leaves slide to the ground, only to be blown back into the air by ghosts of wind that will become more frequent in the weeks to come.

This summer has been characterized by long periods of hot sunny days and stretches of rain that threatened to flood the fields and meadows. They are hallmarks of a changing climate. The proof of this cause becomes stronger with repetition and geographic spread. Both seem to recur year after year and to threaten life quality of those concerned.

In my earlier post I described the local weather in June and July. This time, I would like to share pictures of the ponds and woodland created during the past two months.

The little cabin is the starting point of the hike through the Nature Reserve. The infrastructure allows families to gather and barbecue.
In a few areas light and welcoming forest lead to the Nature Reserve. In most areas the woods cannot be entered due to the thickets.
The growth of reeds has been so dense that the water cannot be seen from the trails.
On many visits the cloudy skies dominated.
One of seventeen ponds in the Reserve.
Same pond as above – continuation to the right side.
A smaller pond, hidden in the woods and difficult to reach in summer.
The colors of fall in the reeds.
Dreamy reflections in still waters of the pond.

When fall puts on its colorful cloths, gratitude and humbleness prevail at the sights we will enjoy. We will remind ourselves that after a few months, new greens will sprout to begin a new circle of life.
