Fauna & Flora in Early Spring

There is no question any longer: Spring prevails albeit winter temperatures still pose a threat to hiking. Trekking is not yet possible – there is too much snow in the Alps.

Visiting my “photographic homeland” just a few days ago, I mired the sprouting of plants and return of animals forecasting the expansion of all forms of life and colors that we so much enjoy in the woods and pastures.

Following a glimpse at what I saw.

Mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) returning to the ponds,
looking for nesting sites.

Spawn of the Common Frog
Rana temporaria
Marsh Marigold (Caltha palustris)
Oxlip (Primula elatior)
Great Tit (Parus major)
Brimstone (Gonepteryx rhamni)
Among the smalles flighing creatures, I saw
What a majestic creature! King of the air,
soaring silently high above your head, watching out for prey.
Black Kite (accipitrea)
